The ID Forum is an international conference organized by SALTO Inclusion & Diversity every two years. Its purpose is to create greater visibility for inclusion & diversity and build bridges between stakeholders active in the EU youth programmes.
The event focuses on inclusion & diversity in the broad sense, following the definition of young people with fewer opportunities. It offers a space to work on various issues and serves as the go-to place for anyone in the field seeking new information, inspiration, methods, and partners. We have recently concluded a diverse 3-day program in a residential setting, which centered around acknowledging the individuals who put inclusion and diversity into practice. These individuals include youth workers, educators, social workers, youth practitioners, mentors, and coaches. They are the ones who stay motivated, find effective solutions, employ creative methods, initiate projects and activities, and continuously learn and grow with purpose. They are the people with IDeals and IDeas. During the event, we created a space that recognised their valuable work and provided an opportunity to reflect, share, learn, and grow. It was a platform for sharing stories, finding inspiration, and fostering a sense of togetherness. Throughout the program, we presented successful practices, shared useful tools and resources, and engaged in discussions on strategies for promoting greater inclusion and diversity within the EU Youth Programmes. Our programme heavily emphasised active participation and peer learning, allowing participants to reflect on their own relationship with Inclusion & Diversity. We encouraged them to assess how inclusion & diversity is reflected in their respective organisations and activities. We specifically focused on sharing what works and what doesn't, and highlighting lessons we can learn from one another. Additionally, we explored the potential of cross-sectorial cooperation during the event, particularly in terms of connecting non-formal and formal education sectors. This aspect added another dimension to the programme, enabling us to delve into the possibilities and prospects that arise from such collaborations. The event was a remarkable success, leaving participants inspired, equipped with new knowledge and tools, and ready to make a difference in their respective domains. |
